- First of all I like to explain the most significant difference
- between the printer drivers, so you can use the table in the
- buttom to find the best driver for your printer. Please read this
- info! Most of the drivers 1-5 might work on your printer, but
- there are great(!) differences in performance.
-
- (1) EpsonQPlus Revision 5.1
- This driver needs a "Legal" character set (ESC-R-64)
- for printing ® and ©; Also shadow print is available.
- White areas on graphic dumps are allways converted to
- ESC-$-n if possible.
- This printer driver uses ESC-+-n as n/360inch command
-
- (2) Star24Plus Revision 5.2
- White areas on graphic dumps are allways converted to
- ESC-$-n if possible.
- This printer driver uses ESC-+-n as n/360inch command
- (see note *2)
-
- (3) PanasonicPlus Revision 5.1
- White areas on graphic dumps are converted to
- ESC-$-n if
- a.) the white area is greater than 2inch and we're doing
- 360XDPI graphic dumps
- b.) it's the white left border
- c.) ESC-$ is used wherever possible while doing
- <360XDPI graphic dumps.
- This printer driver uses ESC-+-n as n/360inch command
-
- (4) Oki24Plus Revision 6
- White areas on graphic dumps are converted to
- ESC-$-n if
- a.) the white area is greater than 2inch and we're doing
- 360XDPI graphic dumps
- b.) it's the white left border
- c.) ESC-$ is used wherever possible while doing
- <360XDPI graphic dumps.
- This printer driver uses ESC-[-n as n/360inch command!
-
- (5) Nec24Plus Revision 5.1
- White areas on graphic dumps are allways converted to
- ESC-$-n if possible.
- This printer driver uses FS-3-n as n/360inch command
-
- (6) CanonBJ130 Revision 8.2
- A BJ130 and BJ130e inkjet driver...
- Replaces all old Canon48 drivers.
- (see note *1)
-
- (7) CanonBJ10 Revision 1.3
- A BJ10/e inkjet driver...
- (see note *1)
-
- (8) CanonBJ300 Revision 1.3
- A BJ300 and BJ330 inkjet driver wich works with
- the printers Proprinter mode
- (see note *1)
-
- (9) CanonEpson Revision 1.0
- A BJ300 and BJ330 inkjet driver wich works with
- the printers Epson mode
- (see note *1)
-
- (10) Star9Plus Revision 1.0
- This driver needs a "Legal" character set (ESC-R-64)
- for printing ® and ©;
- White areas on graphic dumps are converted to
- ESC-$-n if
- a.) the white area is greater than 0.5inch
- b.) it's the white left border
- (see note *2)
-
- Now how do you use this info for choosing the right driver out of
- #1 to #5 :
-
- - First look into the table and get the possible drivers for your
- printer. Sorry... You still have to find the fastest driver by
- yourself. I have asked for testers on UseNet, but nobody seems to
- care. Shame on you all!
-
- - Testing should begin with the lowest driver number! For testing
- extract the Test.lzh archiv with "lharc e test.lzh" and execute
- the resulting script with "execute test". Every "test" archiv is
- specific to the printer driver, so you have to extract it
- everytime you switch the driver!
-
- - Some scripts print various text in different styles. This
- gives you an easy way to find out, if the driver is the right
- choice.
-
- - After this, the script prints a graphic. The graphic is dumped
- using the ESC-$-n command. If your printer get's ugly slow for
- this printing: this is not your driver, except you like waiting
- ;-)
-
- - Now look into you printer manual to find out, which n/360
- command is supported by your printer. If your printer support
- both, ESC-+ and FS-3, you better choose one of the ESC-+ drivers!
-
- - in case no driver works with your printer: see the "Readme"
- on "Special things to note"! Perhaps I should mention, if your
- problem is ESC-$ related: get an old driver revision <4 wich does no
- ESC-$. Anyway you should contact me, so I can do a faster version
- for your printer ;-)
-
- - in case you found the right driver, don't forget the special Readme for
- more info! And if possible... send me a note/hints so I can update the
- list/driver ;-)
-
- succ.

- *3: Try the test dump! If the test dump works fine, use PanasonicPlus.
- If not, use Nec24Plus for all 360YDPI resolutions!
- Also, check your driver revision and update if neccessary!
